Check-Out Hunger

Every September through January, the Check-Out Hunger Campaign begins at most major supermarkets in our area. Displays with coupons of $1, $3 and $5 are positioned at each check-out counter to give shoppers an easy way to donate to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties – just add the value of the coupon to your grocery bill at the check-out counter to help a local family in need.  100% of the proceeds go to the FoodBank to help fight hunger in our neighborhoods.

Participating stores include A&P, Fine Fair, Foodtown, Genuardi’s, Pathmark, Shop n Bag, ShopRite, Super Fresh, Wawa and Wegmans.  Check-Out Hunger 2009 in New Jersey is made possible in part by a grant from NRG, a wholesale power producer based in New Jersey.

As the economy worsened in the last year, requests for food rose by 30%.  Thanks to your support, the FoodBank was able to meet this challenge by providing a million more pounds of food than it did in the previous year.

Every dollar counts! For every dollar you donate, the FoodBank is able to provide a family with 9 pounds of groceries.
