Matching Gift Programs Many companies direct their charitable giving programs through matching gifts. When an employee notifies the company that he or she has made a charitable donation, the company makes a gift of the same amount--in some cases double the amount--to the same charitable organization. Matching gift programs are a wonderful way for employees to stretch their charitable dollars at no cost to themselves.
