One of the FoodBank’s main goals is to ensure the families we serve have access to nutritious, balanced meals.  A registered dietitian is available to our agencies to provide cooking demonstrations for clients visiting pantries and soup kitchens, as well as nutrition education for staff.  In addition, the FoodBank is categorizing its inventory with a nutrition rating, to ensure agencies understand the nutritional value of the items they obtain from the FoodBank for their clients.

Approximately 40,000 of the 131,000 people that receive emergency food through the network of pantries and other agencies in Monmouth and Ocean Counties are children.

Three programs specifically target childhood hunger:

  • Weekend Backpack Program
  • Kids Cafes
  • Summer Meals
