The Senior Food Program distributes monthly boxes of food for very low income seniors. Each 30-pound box consists of rice or pasta, canned meats or tuna, canned fruits and vegetables, cheese, cereal and shelf-stable milk – food received through the USDA’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).

The program is federally funded and seniors must have income of under 130% of the poverty level – less than $1,245 per month – in order to receive this food. For a couple, the gross monthly income must be less than $1,681.

The FoodBank currently serves 440 seniors at 23 low-income housing complexes and other housing sites in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Food is delivered to these sites to pre-registered seniors every month.

To file a program complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, (AD-3027) found online at: http://www.ascr.usda.gov/complaint_filing_cust.html, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
